After completing school in 1973 I served my military duty. During this time I became a lieutenant of the reserve in the Danish army. Ever since I have been taking part in exercises, and I am now a major of the reserve. I belong to the air-defence of the army, which has recently been equipped with the american air-defence missile Stinger.
is the name of my regiment. The regiment is stationed in the barracks at Varde. The picture next to these lines show the symbol of the regiment.
My present function is in the airdefence element in the staff of the Danish-German-Polish corps MNC NE. In peacetime the headquarters of the corps is placed in Szczecin in Poland.
As a result of my military carreer and a generel interest in history, I have develoeped an interest in the history of war. Here I want to tell about one of the most interesting battles of recent history: "The battle at Tannenberg", which took place in august 1914 on the front between Germany and Russia.
