Genealogy is said to be the fastest growing hobby in the world today. I have also fallen for the fascination of this, and have spend quiet a time searching old documents or hunting trough the Internet searching for those, who emigrated.

My own family My own family primarily came from Central- and Eastjutland (Skødstrup, Hjorthøj, Helstrup, Vammen, Haldum parishes and the area around Vejle), Baarse herred in the south of Zealand and Lollands Nørre Herred.

The information is shown in a new window. When you tired of looking at it, just close the window, then you are bach at this place. The pages are found here.

Here I have tried to present the same information in a different way. I have made an ancestor-tree for each of my grandparents and printed it to an Adobe PDF-file. To see then, you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. My grandparents were: Jørgen Marius Helbo, Ida Funch Rasmussen, Peder Solberg Andreasen and Frederikke Kristiansen.

Helbo is a person living on the peninsula Helgenæs. The origin of the surname Helbo must therefore be a person leaving this peninsula and later getting a nickname as a reference to his origin. Here is a little about my attempt to trace my family back to this peninsula (in danish)

This is my great-great-great-grandfather Hans Rasmussen Skafte (1800-1867). Through him I am related to the big Skafte-family from the northern part of the island Lolland. Here you may read a little about this family.

Going to America. My grandfather had three brothers, who went to America around 1890. Here is a little about them.

A large part of my ancestors come from the parish of Skødstrup, Øster Lisberg herred, Randers county. The parish records for this parish goes back to 1620. I have now started to transcribe this book. Here is the part with the baptisted 1620-1780, and here are the buried 1631-1780 and the churchbook 1780-1809 - or should I say the beginning of the book ...

Census-recordsApart from the work with my own genealogy I am also taking part in the big project of entering all Danish census-records from the years 1787 to 1921.

The National archives in Viborg are selling microfich with churchbooks and other sources. Here is a small tip on how to make pockets for them.

I live in Sall parish, Houlbjerg district. As in many other places, we also have an archive for local history. Our archive is working with the history of the parishes Haurum and Sall. Here is the homepage of the archive.
